This evening, I am focusing on the National Railway Museum in York, England.
This museum dates back over 80 years and now ranks as the world?s largest such facility. Inside can be found a wide range of railway history including powerful steam locomotives, carriages, Royal trains, freight locomotives and prestige engines such as the Mallard ( fastest steam locomotive), Duchess of Hamilton, Shinkansen Bullet Train and the Flying Scotsman.
In addition to the railway locomotives and rolling stock there is a warehouse with 8000 rail related objects and a workshop gallery where maintenance can be observed.
Above and below can viewed a selection of images from the Museum. Entry is free. A very worthwhile visitor attraction to include in the wide range of sites to see in York which span nearly 2000 years of history.
